Educate

The record, taught.

What the compounds are, what the certificates say, and how to read both. Every number here is a measurement on a filed lab sheet — 85 of them and counting —and nothing on this page says what anything is “good for.” That is not what a record is for.

The Cannabinoid Circle

every chord is a measurement on a filed sheet

hover a compound and its receipts light · hover a subject and its chemistry does · a dim compound has simply not been measured on a filed sheet yet · a subject that draws no chords hasbeen measured — its sheets are filed and its breakdown is not transcribed into the record yet, which is our backlog and not the plant’s silence — shown, never invented

indica · sativa · hybrid → does the label say anything?

The label is how nearly everyone shops. So we asked our own record what it predicts: of the 95 strains carrying both the strain’s own researched type — indica, sativa or hybrid as the world files it, never a BOOF ruling — and a recorded terpene list, how often does that type name each terpene? The three that lead both labels come first; the rest follow by how far the labels differ.

  • Myrcene79% 19/2485% 17/2057% 29/51
  • Limonene75% 18/2465% 13/2073% 37/51
  • β-Caryophyllene79% 19/2460% 12/2086% 44/51
  • Terpinolene0% 0/2420% 4/206% 3/51
  • Humulene25% 6/2410% 2/2010% 5/51
  • Ocimene0% 0/2410% 2/200% 0/51
  • Linalool13% 3/245% 1/2037% 19/51

Under both labels the same three terpenes lead. The difference between indica and sativa lives in the ones almost nobody names.

Every bar counts what the record names, not what a lab measured — and the two barely meet. 95 strains carry both a type and a named list; of the 26 with a measured terpene panel, not one carries a type at all. A chemical comparison isn’t available to us, so none is implied.

The counts ride beside the bars because a fifth of twenty strains is four strains. Bare “Pinene” is held back on 32 namings rather than guessed at α or β.

Nothing here says what any of it is good for.

the terpene flavour wheel · what these things smell like

Everything above this line is our own record. This one is not, and that is deliberate — it is the aroma vocabulary the industry shares, so that a compound name means something before you ever look at a shelf.

hover a terpene and its family and notes light · equal wedges on purpose — this is a vocabulary, not a measurement, and the sizes claim nothing · ⚑ nothing on this wheel comes from our lab sheets or our shelf, and nothing here links to a strain: these are the aroma descriptors terpene references share, drawn so the words mean something · and as everywhere on this page, aroma is all it says — not one word about what any of it does to a person
